    My nine years at the YMCA provided insights into child care’s challenges. Quality care must be accessible and affordable to families and those working in the field deserve a livable wage. A lack of affordable child care has a ripple effect that starts with a parent’s ability to participate in the workforce. I'm proud to receive the endorsement of Let's Grow Kids Action Network.

    Having seen my wife work as a public school teacher for 32 years, I've learned a great deal about the challenges and needs of Vermont's incredible public school teachers, students, and their families. Support for our educators is crucial to ensure our students receive a high quality, accessible education. I'm grateful for the work of Vermont’s public school educators and for the support and endorsement of the Vermont-National Education Association.

  • Vermont State Employees' Association

    Vermont's state employees deliver essential services our communities depend on, often with too little recognition. That's why I’m honored to have earned the endorsement of the Vermont State Employees' Association (VSEA), representing nearly 6,000 workers across the state. I respect their work for fair wages, safe workplaces, and the dignity state workers have earned.

  • National Association of Social Workers

    The support social workers provide fellow Vermonters is invaluable. They, in turn, need and deserve our support. I’m particularly interested in their work to improve the mental health of Vermonters.

  • Gun Sense Now Candidate

    The Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate distinction is awarded to candidates who have demonstrated that they will support stronger gun laws and advocate for safer communities if elected into office. Our country needs this reform, and I'm proud to stand as a Gun Sense Now candidate 2026.

  • Mental Health Now Candidate

    Mental Health Now Candidates have committed to use their elected office to better mental health in America. Improving the mental health of people, especially teenagers, in Vermont is a priority for me, and I'm proud to say I was a Mental Health Now Candidate 2024 (no determination made for ‘26 campaign).

“I don't endorse candidates lightly, but Doug has impressed me. His decades-long work at the Red Cross, YMCA, and as a board member of the Boys and Girls Club are evidence of where his heart is. He's met with town and school leaders to hear their needs. He's attended countless board and commission meetings. His door to door efforts have been more listening opportunities than campaigning.

”All candidates agree what the problems facing VT are and that solutions will not be easy. We need to elect people who are equipped personally and professionally to find solutions. Doug was the VT Disaster Relief Fund Vice Chair in the aftermath of Tropical Storm Irene. He helped establish a nonprofit building and overseeing an allocations process that distributed $4 million in aid and developed relationships with stakeholders at every government level. This is the kind of person we need in Montpelier.
